Happy Friday,

We had another successful week here in the district!  Many of you have already received the 2023-2024 Flip Calendar in your building. If you would like to check out the school calendar PDF, you can click here for a link to our website.  As a reminder, early release days are now every Wednesday for K-8 schools.  Our printed flip calendars were printed before this change, but our online calendars are fully updated.

If you have a positive comment about a student or staff member, let us know so we can share it district-wide.

• The transportation department, Kelly Johnson and her team, were extremely helpful and flexible in making Dawg Days and Link Freshman Orientation a success. They have been on point with drop-offs and pick-ups in the afternoon, ensuring that all students were safely transported home. On the second day of pick-up, all buses were full and on their way in 10-12 minutes, and no students were left behind. Great job team! 
• MVHS junior, Taite Kirkpatrick, has been selected for Team USA, the National Speech and Debate Association's select group of debaters that represent our country in international debate competitions and in the World Debate Championships this summer in Serbia.   Way to go Taite! 

First Day of Kindergarten
Tuesday was our first day of Kindergarten.  I had the pleasure of walking a kindergarten student to class who looked confident and ready to conquer the world:-).  As expected, we did have a few tears from our students and some parents.  A teacher shared with me that it was heartwarming to see a good number of the kindergarteners understanding learning expectations and she attributed that to the Transition to Kindergarten experience.

Feliz viernes,

¡Tuvimos otra semana exitosa aquí en el distrito! Muchos de ustedes ya recibieron el Flip Calendar 2023-2024 en casa. Si desea consultar el PDF del calendario escolar, puede hacer clic aquí para obtener un enlace a nuestro sitio web. Como recordatorio, los días de salida temprana ahora son todos los miércoles para las escuelas K-8. Desafortunadamente, los calendarios ya estaban impresos y en camino a nuestras escuelas, pero nuestros calendarios en línea están completamente actualizados.

Si tiene un comentario positivo sobre un estudiante o miembro del personal, háganoslo saber para que podamos compartirlo en todo el distrito.

• El departamento de transporte, Kelly Johnson y su equipo, fueron de gran ayuda y flexibilidad para que Dawg Days y Link Freshman Orientation fueran un éxito. Han estado puntuales al dejar y recoger a los estudiantes por la tarde, asegurando que todos los estudiantes fueran transportados de manera segura a casa. El segundo día de recogida, todos los autobuses estaban llenos y en camino en 10 a 12 minutos, y ningún estudiante se quedó atrás. ¡Gran equipo de trabajo!
• El junior de MVHS, Taite Kirkpatrick, ha sido seleccionado para el equipo de EE. UU., el selecto grupo de polemistas de la Asociación Nacional de Oratoria y Debate que representa a nuestro país en competencias internacionales de debate y en el Campeonato Mundial de Debate este verano en Serbia. ¡Así se hace Taité!

Primer día de kinder 
El martes fue nuestro primer día de jardín de infantes. Tuve el placer de acompañar a clase a un estudiante de jardín de infantes que parecía confiado y listo para conquistar el mundo :-). Como era de esperar, nuestros estudiantes y algunos padres lloraron un poco. Una maestra me dijo que era reconfortante ver que un buen número de niños de jardín de infantes entendían las expectativas de aprendizaje y lo atribuyó a la experiencia de transición al jardín de infantes.
