Volunteering

Thank you for clicking on and looking into the opportunities and process to become a Mount Vernon School District Volunteer.  Volunteer service is vital to the success of our schools. Whether you are looking for approval to attend a once a year field trip or approval to be in the school or classroom daily, we would love your participation. Studies have shown that interest and support of our learners demonstrates the importance of education.  We encourage volunteerism in classrooms through assistance with activities, reading, and chaperoning on field trips. Parents, grandparents, students and community members are all invited to help make a difference in our schools.

Mount Vernon School District policy requires that all volunteers complete a Volunteer Application prior to volunteering in the schools. Applications need to be completed at least two weeks prior to volunteering. This is particularly important for field trip requests as the volume may cause delays in processing. Submit your applications early!

The district very recently transitioned to a new Online Volunteer Application System. Please click on this link to take you to the website. You will need to set up your account, and then search the jobs for Volunteer. We have three applications listed; Volunteer Coach for athletics, School Volunteer (Minor) for students under 18, and School Volunteer (Adult) for all other volunteer opportunities. Remember, it may take some time to process so complete your application early.  Once approved, your application is valid for two years.
